I’ve been speaking on this topic on my Menopause Minutes and I wanted to take it a step further and give you something to consider with your daughters and female loved ones in your life. I have spoken to a handful of women that have had very few menopausal symptoms and fully believe their hormones were more balanced because they either had less stress in their lives or they handled their stresses better.                                                                                                                                                 They also had very healthy eating habits in life and maintained it into adulthood along with a consistent exercise plan throughout their lives. I, on the other hand had a very stressful time in my 30’s and 40’s and cortisol levels got out of control and caused hormone imbalance as I started in my late 40’s. My body suffered and the symptoms of menopause started. As I’ve shared before, I didn’t have many symptoms but the brain fog was debilitating and scary because of my mom’s early onset Alzheimers. I truly feel if I had started a product (like we have today) that stabilized my own Human Growth Hormone, was abIe to control my stress, I feel my menopause journey could have been much easier.

Once the symptoms started, like many of you, I was initially started on antidepressants because of the brain fog and lack of focus. I was basically treated for ADHD. Then the night sweats started and it was not until after a year or so of this that I brought up the potential of hormone imbalance and basically asked for labs to be drawn so we could evaluate and decide what plan of action to take. This could take 100’s of hours! I know! Because I wasted a lot of time trying to find what might work for me.

It should be talked about early on…

So…..what if we start educating our girls early about the changes to expect in life? Then they won’t be so surprised when changes start. I know that may sound difficult but let’s say when your girl is in freshmen year of high school, start talking to her about managing stress, keeping her body healthy with good nutrition, appropriate vitamin supplements and an exercise routine that she loves or can stay consistent with. Sadly, my mom was bulimic, so I did not learn about good nutrition from her. I knew her eating habits were not healthy so I started learning from another family member how to eat healthy and how to nourish my body and not starve it. I truly believe my Mom’s unhealthy eating habits along with hormone imbalance may have been two of the potential causes of early onset Alzheimer’s. Therefore, we want to educate well and early on so our girls will know the importance of being in “balance”.  In our teens and early 20’s collagen and Human Growth Hormone (HGH) levels are at their highest.
